We are licensed in Croatia, Poland, Romania and Malta and have grown a ground-breaking cross-border business model whose compatibility with European law has been endorsed in both the Gambelli (2003) and Placanica (2007) rulings from the European Court of Justice. We retain our stringently regulated licences issued by UK Gambling Commission.

We believe in a regulated and competitive cross-border sports betting market which operates according to the principles of the European Union, to provide benefits through competitive growth to individual member states as well as ensure that consumers can enjoy sports betting as a leisure activity in a regulated, safe and transparent environment.

In November 2003, Gambelli upheld the right of free competition across the European Union on sports betting and was followed by Placanica in 2007 stating that Italian legislation on sports betting must not contain provisions which, in its words, “constitute a restriction on the freedom of establishment and the freedom to provide services, provided for in Articles 43 EC and Articles 49 EC respectively”

Following the rulings of Gambelli and Placanica cases, Stanleybet will continue to champion the right to trade and campaign for a regulated cross-border market which adheres to the principles of the European Union.
